Appendix Carry Kills: AIWB is Spelled "WTF!"

Updated: Sep 1

A recent thread on a holster forum reminds me, that some folks fight, for the right, to carry AIWB. Often there will be a challenge, "name me one time someone has killed himself that way". "Dead man walking", I call it.

Well, here are FOUR TIMES. Many more of them when you Google the simple phrase 'shot in groin' although you'll also turn up stories about third parties shooting folks there.

The above not enough to persuade you? Here are FOUR MORE, all of them this century:

We're not Superman, we CANNOT dodge a speeding bullet (up to 1500 feet per SECOND in 9mm) that's holstered an inch or so from our groins!! So-called "appendix carry" is a 21st century thing carried over from pistol ranges.

Galco says wearing the pistol over your groin is PERFECTLY OK, which has the unfortunate effect of demonstrating that you, dear reader, are now smarter than your holster maker:

You will NOT be able to find a 20th century pistolero with their pistol holstered across their belly, which is what 'appendix' refers to today. Here's a 21st century view that's just NUTS!

And 19th century images are DNA because those guns were posed at the front of the cowboys and dudes, by the photographer to show off the subject's weaponry. Cowboys didn't carry their pistols there (below Ranger Hughes in foreground, at right, 1890s, showing how Texas Rangers DID carry late in the 19th century):
