Restored Post 47: Arvo Ojala

Arvo was a destructive force it seems, who pissed off everyone he ever did business with. Colt's, Andy Anderson, Alfonso Pineda, Daisy, Ed Bohlin, everybody. One writer told me he was at one of those companies and he mentioned Arvo to a manager; said the chap's face turned an angry red and he thought the chap was going to punch him!

Even his first wife Angelina who he married in '45. Below is not she, this is number two who was Doris and predeceased him. Angie outlived him by a few years. Below is 1958, his peak:




Below, one of the many Ojala holsters that were made for appearances in the Gunsmoke series after he succeeded in pushing out the Bohlins the actors had been using since the show opened. Arvo himself was not a maker; it was Andy Anderson who perfected the Arvo design and made them at Bohlin's for him, then directly for him as an employee, then Alfonso, then who knows? He was out of the biz early '60s having won a suit against Ed but lost a bigger one to Andy.
