The lesser known facts about Baker include that Strong Leather took a license in his patent near the end of the patent's term (late 1980s), and Roy was in the midst of a comeback at his death (very same time) according to filings with the USPTO.
This is the Strong version contrasted with Roy's original; they are styled so differently one doesn't even need to see the backside to know the Strongs with the Baker patent number there vs the Strongs before the license was granted:
